Dear Aspen Creek Families,
The ACE Race is right around the corner! Mark your calendars for Friday, September 20th. All students are scheduled to be at the middle school track in the afternoon (specific times below). Classroom teachers will be asking for parent volunteers to mark laps. With the last group ending close to dismissal we ask that parents NOT come into the office and check students out, rather let dismissal routines happen as scheduled.
Run times are as follows...
11:45 - 12:30 K/1st
12:45 - 1:30 2nd/3rd
1:45 - 2:30 4th/5th
Rooms: Teachers have been sharing weekly newsletters and daily reminders through Rooms. They will continue to use Rooms as their main source of communicating general information. With that said, Rooms should NOT be used to report absences or time sensitive messages. Teacher often don't check messages/emails until the end of the school day. I ask that ALL attendance, early pick-up times, or changes in end of day routines be communicated through the office. Secretaries will be sure to get messages to classroom teachers in a timely manner.
Health Screenings: Annual School Health Screens for grades 1st - 4th will be taking place on Friday, September 20th. The State of Nebraska requires students have their Vision, Hearing, Height, Weight, and Dental be screened. Parents/guardians may waive height and weight measurements by submitting a written objection to Nurse Horst. To waive Hearing, Vision and/or dental screening, parents/guardians must submit written statements(s) from a qualified examiner that their child has received the minimum required screenings within the previous six months. If you have any questions, please email or call Nurse Horst (402-332-5617 or lhorst@gpsne.org).
Book Fair: The book fair continues to be open through September 19th. Parents are welcome to stop in after school should they choose to view the selections with their child. Donuts with Grownups is another opportunity to visit the book fair, being held on the morning of September 17th.
Drop Off: As a reminder of morning drop off routines, ONLY preschool, daycare vans, and busses should be dropping students off in the bus loop. All other families are asked to use the parent drop off loop in the front of the building. If you have any questions about drop off or dismissal routines feel free to reach out at any time.
Gretna's Got Talent: The Gretna Public Schools Foundation is hosting their first, family-friendly event called Gretna’s Got Talent. This is a fun and free event for everyone to attend and they are looking for a few more talents to perform. They are offering this opportunity to your elementary-aged kiddos free of charge! Fill out the FORM HERE to register. Include what they are performing and with who if more than one student is doing a talent together. More information about the event can be found HERE!
